How Pilates Can Help Support Your Health Journey
By definition, Pilates is a system of exercises using special appartuses, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, posture and enhance mental awareness that has evolved from Joseph Pilates original teachings. Part of what sets Pilates apart from other types of workouts is the focus on the quality of movement over quantity of movement.
Pilates is low-impact and minimizes stress on the joints making it suitable for people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities, including those with injuries and joint problems.
Pilates is not only done on the mat or on a Reformer — there’s a suite of equipment available to fit your individual needs and goals. You will be able to access the best Pilates experience in the area at Rogue Valley Pilates.

Reformer
Likely the most well known piece of Pilates equipment is the Reformer. Originally, Joseph Pilates invented the reformer and other equipment to aid in the rehabilitation of WWI soldiers that were injured or bed-ridden from combat. After the war, he continued to refine his methods and equipment when he immigrated to the US.
Today, the Pilates Reformer is a versatile and dynamic tool used in fitness and rehabilitation settings. It facilitates precise movements, muscle engagement, and body alignment through its adjustable springs, pulleys, straps, and footbar. The Reformer is used for a variety of exercises that can be tailored to different fitness levels, making it suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners. Its benefits include enhanced core strength, improved flexibility, and a full-body workout that tones muscles without bulk. Additionally, it aids in injury rehabilitation by providing low-impact, controlled movements that promote joint mobility and prevent muscle imbalances. The Reformer also supports mental well-being by fostering body awareness and mindfulness through its flowing movements.
*Duo classes will be on Reformers only.

Trapeze Table
(Cadillac)
The Pilates Trapeze Table, also known as the Cadillac, is a versatile apparatus used in fitness and rehabilitation settings today. It features a stable, elevated platform surrounded by a metal frame equipped with springs, bars, and straps that allow for a wide range of exercises targeting strength, flexibility, and alignment. Suitable for all fitness levels, it supports gentle movements for injury recovery and enables advanced acrobatic exercises for experienced practitioners. Key benefits include improved core stability, enhanced flexibility, spinal decompression, and safe, low-impact workouts that accommodate diverse needs. Its adaptability makes it a valuable tool for achieving fitness goals with precision and efficiency.
*The Trapeze Table is only for use during private sessions.

Ladder Barrel
The Pilates Ladder Barrel is a versatile and accessible piece of equipment used in Pilates practices today. It features a rounded barrel surface and a ladder with adjustable rungs, providing a stable platform for exercises that enhance flexibility, core strength, and spinal mobility. The barrel’s design supports safe and controlled movements, particularly beneficial for spinal extension and flexion, making it ideal for improving posture and countering the effects of modern sedentary lifestyles. Its benefits include increased flexibility in the spine, shoulders, and hips, as well as strengthened core and oblique muscles. The Ladder Barrel is also user-friendly for beginners due to its simplicity and lack of moving parts, making it an excellent tool for both novice and advanced practitioners seeking to deepen their Pilates practice and improve overall well-being.
*The Ladder Barrel is only for use during private sessions.
During private sessions, we will also be able to access the Wunda Chair and Spine Corrector.
